Korean women are beautiful, and it’s no wonder. They are often almost obsessed with their appearance and spend up to a third of their income on cosmetics. They focus mainly on skincare. It has to be perfect, smooth, and snow-white. There must be no visible signs of aging.

Korean women use cosmetic products made from exotic herbs grown right on the Korean Peninsula and various natural substances. Last but not least, they protect their skin from the sun. Interestingly, Korean men also take care of their appearance. They take care of their skin and use makeup (up to 20% of Korean men use makeup regularly). However, it’s necessary for the makeup to look natural.

·        Koreans count age differently than we do. Newborn children are one year old. On New Year’s Day, another year is automatically added to their age. (So if your child is born in December, they will already be two years old on January 1.)

·        Koreans like to wear colorful sportswear. The more colorful and bright, the better.

·        Korean women have similar body types. So in stores you will usually find only one universal size. Only pants and skirts are sold in sizes S, M, and L. Shoes are sold in stores only up to size 38; you won’t find anything larger.

·        Recently, Korean women have been rebelling. Korean culture emphasizes marriage and having children, but the women’s “bi-hon” movement refuses the idea that a woman should be only a wife, a mother, and cheap labor.

·        Young Koreans are also rebelling. They refuse to work 69 hours a week, as their government wants. (Currently, Koreans’ workweek is 52 hours.)
